Kitchen is most important part of home or any accommodation. This place has supreme rank in everybody's heart, as used for cooking or preparing food. Raw materials and food items are stored in the kitchen. It is basically store house and where items are saved for future use. Though there are many items which you may find should be accommodated in the kitchen, but below mentioned are few basic raw materials which are required for cooking.
1)Flour: Flour or atta is mandatory in Indian cooking. This one is kneaded and chapattis are baked which are consumed with cooked vegetables. This is powder which is prepared from grinding cereal grains, seeds or roots. Atta in Hindi is staple food in many cultures. Various types of flour are used by people, but most commonly used flour is wheat flour. Gram flour is another staple ingredient in many Indian foods. Chana Dal besan or gram flour is exceptionally high in protein. Many favorite and desired Indian foods are coated with this powder and consumed after deep frying. Mouth watering vegetables' pakoras are prepared smearing chana dal besan and water mixture, which is then deep fried in the hot oil. It is also used as thickening agent in many sauces and gravies.
2)Sugar: This one is edible and characterized with sweet flavour. Though, sugar is naturally present in the edibles are referred as sucrose. But the one which is used in the preparation of tea and many desserts are crystal sugar which is prepared in industrial setup. Crystal sugars are easy to store and convenient to use. We make use of sugar in the preparation of tea, pickles, sauces, halwa, jam etc. Sugar also rules the kitchen and should be stocked to prevent its storage.
3) Spices: Indian kitchens are incomplete without accommodating varieties of spices. There are 80 kinds of spices which are nurtured all over the world and India alone is home to 50 types of spices. Some of the most used are pepper, ginger, turmeric, chilli, cardamom, cumin, fennel, ajwain, clove etc. These spices are known for their aroma and add excellent taste to the food.
4)Raw vegetables and Pulses: These are power house of vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Indian cooking is incomplete without integrating pulses or vegetables. They are baked, boiled, fried etc and then seasoned with some spices and vegetables. Cooked vegetables and pulses are primary components of three course meal.
Aforementioned items should be necessarily accommodated in the house. Though you may also find other items relevant as needs can vary according to the the usage and desires in many houses. But certain things are important and should be stocked which can happily satisfy the empty stomach and can also lead to the formation of many scrumptious recipes.
